Jacalyn and I were just discussing this the other day, and now Mr. Gleck has put it on his blog. So I'm copying from him.

35 down, 15 to go. I fully intend to visit them all. I could kick myself for not hopping into Oklahoma and Texas when I lived in Arkansas. Oh well. I am only counting states where I put my feet on the ground, not ones I just drove through. Although, actually, the number wouldn't change at all!
I'm not sure why this map won't resize properly, but suffice it to say, I've seen the entire east coast multiple times. This is showing where I haven't been rather nicely, so I'll leave it alone.

3 pearl(s) of wisdom:
I had to manually resize the map for it all to fit, then make a manual link to world66.com -- but if you've got the entire east-of-Old-Man-River contingent covered, then I guess you're okay.
Although on your map, I count 16 states not visited.
Most of us 'road geek' types consider driving as having "visited" -- long as a part of your body is touching anything connected with ground, you're good.
Now it fits...did you change it?
Mine doesn't fit...and although there is only 1 state on the East Coast I haven't visited...Rhode Island. Does being friends with you guys count? Since you all lived there and all...
Glad you are feeling better! I'm surprised you made it Sun.
How cool. It's interesting to see where you have actually visited and what spots you haven't been to. Apparently I'm and east and west coast person. The middle of the country is just open wide.
